In 2020, BIC implemented a new Product Information Management (PIM) system for its global business. However, BIC needed additional support to meet the complex requirements of the retail industry in the various markets for the standardised product content connection via the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN).

The project

In order to meet the complex and country-specific requirements of retailers for the supply of product content via the GDSN, BIC introduced BAYARD's BYRD technology to complement its new PIM in November 2023. BYRD ensures that all country-specific requirements of the retailers for product content are met before BIC makes it available to its business partners.

The migration of BIC's core markets to BYRD went smoothly – all other countries will follow now. BAYARD’s technology enables the branded goods manufacturer to make its product content fit for purpose more efficiently. The BYRD component b-managed automatically checks the quality and completeness of the data according to the specific requirements of the markets and retail companies. In addition, BIC publishes its product content directly via the GDSN data pool b-synced, which is integrated into BYRD.
